Schools Out For Charlotte Holmes

Financial Advice
Charlotte Holmes, Financial Administrator

We are incredibly pleased that former primary school teacher Charlotte Holmes has joined our Client Services team as a Financial Administrator. Charlotte aspires to become a fully qualified Financial Adviser and at Four Oaks we will do all we can to help her achieve this goal.  Charlotte has hit the ground running so to speak and is already studying for her RO5 qualification.  This qualification focusses on how to give advice on financial protection products and to understand the circumstances when a client would require financial protection.

In her day-to-day role Charlotte supports our Financial Adviser team who provide local financial advice to our clients in an around the Tamworth, Lichfield and Sutton Coldfield area with processing applications for clients on mortgages, protection products, pensions and savings transfers such as ISA transfers. This is a busy role that includes liaising with providers, clients and Financial Advisers to make sure that applications are processed effectively and efficiently with a great focus on customer service.

The value of pensions and investments and the income they produce can fall as well as rise. You may get back less than you invested.Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.

Charlotte has a degree in biology, enjoys running and keeping fit and is also learning to play the piano! “I really enjoy working at Four Oaks, and am delighted that I can study and train for exams.  We study together, we revise together and we will be taking the exams together so I really feel part of the team.”  Says Charlotte.

Why Did We Collect 60 Toothbrushes?

Financial Services
Four Oaks Financial Services Team With Toothbrushes

Well….. this is simply the latest action in our support of Buddy Bag Foundation. We set our team the task of acquiring 60 toothbrushes suitable for 5 to 8 year old boys and girls and of course they had to be untouched by human hands or mouths!!  Our amazing team rose to the challenge and we quickly had the 60 toothbrushes that the Buddy Bag Foundation so badly needed.

Buddy Bag is a national charity with its centre of operations in Sutton Coldfield, which is close to our office. They provide essential items such as toothbrushes, to children who find themselves in a situation where they have had to leave home, usually in a hurry as a result of domestic violence or other abuse, and very often the children have not had the opportunity to pack a bag of even the most basic items.

A Buddy Bag contains over 20 things a youngster will need, and this also includes items that they can call their own such as a photo frame and a cuddly toy which is very beneficial in helping them to start the process of adjustment to their new circumstances.

Advisers Pass Exams To Give Advice On Long Term Care

Martin Ward
Managing Director

Did you know that a financial adviser should not give advice on long term care unless they are qualified to do so? All of our team are working towards their CF8 qualification and we are delighted to announce that our Managing Director, Martin Ward and Financial Advisers Ray Ceairns and Mark Timmins passed their CF8 examination in July.

CF8 is a specialist qualification and Advisers who have this are able to give financial advice on all aspects of long term care. This could be advice on planning for future long term care, or advising people intending to go into care in the near future or advice regarding carers.

Four Oaks MD, Martin Ward commented “At Four Oaks Financial Services we take qualifications and training very seriously. Our entire team are working towards attaining the CF8 qualification as we consider this a basic requirement of being a financial adviser.”

Golf Day Cheque Presented to Buddy Bag Foundation

Financial Services Money For Charity
L-R Four Oaks MD Martin Ward, and Practice Manager Lynsey Dyche with Karen Williams of Buddy Bag Foundation

At our inaugural golf day held on 28th June thanks to the amazing generosity of our guests and team we raised £350 for our local charity the Buddy Bag Foundation.  We were delighted to present a cheque to Karen Williams who is pictured with our MD, Martin Ward and Practice Manager, Lynsey Dyche.

Karen was one of the founders of the charity and she and her team work tirelessly to get children’s rucksacks and the contents required to make up the buddy bags. The bags are then donated free of charge to children who find themselves having to flee their homes owing to domestic violence or other forms of abuse.  The bags contain lots of useful essentials such as a child’s toothbrush and Pjs and a comforting cuddly toy.

As committed supporters of Buddy Bag Foundation whenever we can we raise money for this very worthy cause and we also take part in Buddy Bag Brigades which involves packing 200 buddy bags in a session.

Does Critical Illness Insurance Still Have A Role To Play?

Critical Illness Insurance
What Would Happen If You Were Too Ill To Work?

Cancer, heart attack, stroke and multiple sclerosis are the most common conditions claimed for on Critical Illness Insurance policies. None of us want to think about ourselves, partner or child getting a bad diagnosis but sadly people do and it happens every day. In the past this type of insurance had quite a poor reputation because insurers had lots of leeway that resulted in many claims not being successful. Thankfully, this is in the past and Critical Illness Insurance now covers more illnesses and conditions and there is a wide range of options including guaranteed plans, reviewable plans and inflation linked cover to name a few.

You can do your own research but this will take up your valuable time, or you could ask one of our Advisers to research Critical Illness Insurance on your behalf and recommend suitable policies tailored to your particular circumstances. Visit our financial protection page for more information.
