Ian Cleghorn was already the most qualified Pensions Adviser on our team, but owing to changes in pensions and pensions legislation Ian has studied for and retaken exams, because in his words “it was the right thing to do.”
Ian didn’t have to re-new the pensions qualifications he already has but his own personal integrity and desire to provide the very best service to clients drove him to do over 100 hours of studying and pass two very difficult exams. The exams that Ian re-newed are RO4, which concerns pension benefits and how you can now take your pension, and RO8 which concerns pension changes.
At the beginning of 2016 Ian set himself the goal of studying and re-taking all of the CII pensions exams. Having already passed two he will re-take JO5 pensions income examination and AF3 advanced pensions examination in October.
“I originally achieved the pensions qualifications in the year 2000,” Says Ian Cleghorn. “Since then there have been significant changes to pensions legislation and the use of pensions. I want to make sure I give the very best pensions advice to clients and that’s why I have studied and retaken these exams, and will complete the final two examinations in October.”
The value of pensions and investments and the income they produce can fall as well as rise. You may get back less than you invested.
At Four Oaks we rely on the dedication of the Advisers and their commitment to life-long learning to keep their skills and knowledge up to date. We look forward to reporting on the success of other Advisers who are currently taking examinations.
If you are the owner, director or senior manager in a business by now you should know all about Auto Enrolment. You should have received a letter from The Pensions Regulator telling you about your new responsibilities because the law on workplace pensions has changed. This applies to all businesses in the United Kingdom and even if you already provide a pension scheme you still need to take action on Auto Enrolment.
You may think or assume that someone in your organisation is dealing with this. But are you sure? Do you know what your staging date is? This is the date your duties on Auto Enrolment start and when the law comes into effect for you.
Auto Enrolment may take a while for a business to fully implement, so it is important not to leave it until the last minute. We are encouraging all business clients to get in touch with us, even if it is to put their mind at rest that this is being dealt with properly by someone in their organisation. We recommend you contact your financial adviser straightaway.
